LAS VEGAS - DOWNTOWN
(Fremont Street)

Downtown Las Vegas has really changed since the canopy was erected over Fremont Street. Now people can stroll freely from casino to casino in this outdoor pedestrian mall. Some benches and tables with chairs are provided so people can relax. There are all kinds of kiosks set up. there are demonstrations and free entertainment. Every evening (dusk to midnight) there are laser/sound shows which run on the hour. Some of the shows are "Las Vegas Legends", "Odyssey", "Country Western Nights", "Heartbeat of a Planet", "The Rescue" and "Dancing in the Street".

In the summertime it is noticeably cooler under the canopy. On very hot days the "misters" (located in the palm trees) help to cool you off alittle.

In December a large decorated tree is on display and there are daily ice shows.

For special events, stages are set up for entertainers and bands to perform. Crowds of people come to enjoy the performances and feast on BBQ meals cooked at the outdoor stands.
